Delivering a Successful Presentation
When we talk about a successful presentation, the first thing we think of is “confidence”. However, it is equally important to be sure not to pretend you are someone else other than yourself! Being YOU is the key to taking the stress out and keeping your audience engaged.
Below are some good tips on how to deliver a great presentation that engage your audience until the “Thank You” slide
1: Know your audience. You should know the interests and level of education of your audience so that you inspire them and keep them motivated. Knowing your audience means delivering a presentation that meets their expectations and delivers information that really matters to them.
2: Be positive. It is very important to stay positive. People tend to be inspired by positive speakers who give them positive energy rather than passive feelings!
3: Body language. Eye contact gets you closer to your audience and establishes a bond of intimacy. When you do this, you feel more confident and your audience become more engaged.
4: You are not reading. Yes, you are not reading from a book. Your voice tone should reflect the situation. You should know how to stress a word and when to raise or lower your tone.
5: PowerPoint Slides. If you choose to use slides, include photos and images; a picture is worth a thousand words. Slides are good for organizing your ideas and helping your audience retain the information longer. However, be sure not to use too much text and to use bullet points. Most important of all, make sure to align what appears on the screen with what you are saying! Again, this enforces the idea you are discussing and keeps your audience engaged.
